Ipheions for Descanso Gardens

Spring star Flower ( Ipheion ) is a spring flowering perennial that grows from a bulbs. It gets about six to eight inches tall, and can be scattered in the front of borders. Ipheion is nice in raised beds so you don't miss it when it blooms. It also grows well in containers. The leaves appear in late fall, then die back; the flowers are in blues or white. This plant is dormant during the summer. Mine has naturalized a bit as its tiny bulbs scatter when I plant or cultivate in its bed.
