Fritillaries for Descanso Gardens

Fritillary (Fritillaria). Mostly short lived perennials growing from bulbs. They are dormant in summer through winter. There are different species with interesting color combinations. They do well in raised beds or rock gardens. A few need to be grown in protected cold frames, even an Alpine house. Several types are available in bulb catalogs. Most will do well here with some attention.
