Pincushion Flower for Descanso Gardens

Pincushion Flowers (Scabiosa atropurpurea ) are mostly short-lived perennials. 'Butterfly Pink' and 'Butterfly Blue' are most often found locally. Several species are available but no members have recommended them. They do well at the front of the dry border, or in drought-resistant meadow gardens. They like hot weather and are excellent for dry borders. They make a good cut flower. Butterflies are attracted to them.
